Expect one of the coldest nights of the season tonight, with a low of 6 degrees, but a recovery in temperatures and sunshine for the weekend.
Flurries are expected throughout the day, but only an inch or two of snow will likely accumulate in town.
Highs will be in the low 20s, but will drop sharply into the single digits as the storm moves out, after about 11 p.m.
The National Weather Service is calling for 1 to 4 inches of snow on the plains and 4 to 8 inches in the mountains through today.
The storm is one in a recent series that has done especially well by the mountain ski resorts.
Winter Park reported 11 inches of new snow over the past 24 hours. Crested Butte has had 26 inches in the past three days.

Today there were no closures, but mountain highways were icy and slushy, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
For the weekend, metro skies on Saturday will be sunny again, with a high around 30. Overnight lows will be in the teens.
Sunday’s high of 38 could a bit of a thaw, with no more snow in the extended forecast until Wednesday.
